Case Studies
Perthshire Big Tree Country Website
Project Brief:
To showcase Perthshire countryside presenting areas as Clusters with links to specific points of interest, archive and other reference material. The Cluster areas and features were to be displayed on an interactive map which could be easily maintained.
Approach:
As the Client’s mapping requirements covered a large area, choice of map product and presentation to highlight Clusters were the initial consideration. Showing the location on the map of features with associated details and links was consider best presented in a table with the data fed from a separate easily maintained file.
Our Solution:
The technology to link the map to a features database was already established, leaving content management and structure issues to be discussed and agreed with the Client.
- Web based application which could be fully customised to Client’s specification.
- Map movement and scaling (Pan/Zoom) which is particularly smooth and responsive
- OS maps provide background (Unimap are OS Licenced Partners)
- Points, Areas and Lines may be overlaid on Maps
- Data input by Client may be used directly to update Points of Interest on maps
- Switchable layers, with filters used to identify features by type or area of interest
- Client costs are minimised with only initial and final position map images being charged.
i.e. no charge for transitional images when zooming & panning
